Attitudes towards Rape and Societal Stigmatization of the Victims

Despite the fact that globe is working tirelessly to advocate for women's rights, Nepali society's attitude toward violence against women (VAW) remains unchanged. This article based on study conducted with forty- two respondents from Kathmandu valley. The assesses status of victims, attitudes towards rape, rape myths, and social stigmatization between respondent groups: victims community people. Ten sheltered in NGO, thirty people were administered questionnaire collected quantitative data key informants this sector interviewed qualitative data. Most raped during their adolescence twenty percent among them re-victimized but none filed complaint due fear staining family prestige. All had stay away families either temporarily or permanently. Ninety have faced stigma. Substance abuse sexual gratification listed as main causes by both group No Strict Adherence existing laws political protection powerful/wealthy perpetrators shortcomings law.
